More fun with Cryptids - Bunyip

The bunyip is a large mythical creature from Australian Aboriginal mythology, said to lurk in swamps, billabongs, creeks, riverbeds, and waterholes. Various written accounts of bunyips were made by Europeans in the early and mid-19th century, as settlement spread across the country. Common features in many 19th-century newspaper accounts include a dog-like face, a crocodile like head, dark fur, a horse-like tail, flippers, and walrus-like tusks or horns or a duck-like bill.

More fun with Cryptids - Foo-Dog

two for today!

Fu Lions or Fu Dogs, traditionally known in Chinese simply as Shi and often called "Foo Dogs" in the West, are a common representation of the lion in pre-modern China. Statues of guardian lions have traditionally stood in front of Chinese Imperial palaces, Imperial tombs, government offices, temples, and the homes of government officials and the wealthy, from the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220), and were believed to have powerful mythic protective benefits.

The Wuhnan Toads are gigantic, albino, toad-like creatures are said to lurk in an obscure corner of China’s isolated Hubei province. The creatures are described as being toad-like, with a pale epidermis and large gaping maws, which seemed to exceed a length of 6-feet wide. Witnesses claim that the animals’ gazes seemed aggressive and predatorial.

Fourth in the cryptid series. Mothman, is a legendary creature reportedly seen in the Point Pleasant area of West Virginia from November 15, 1966, to December 15, 1967. Cryptid Series 03 - Loch Ness Monster

The Loch Ness Monster, or Nessie is a being which reputedly inhabits Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. Cryptid Series 02 - Jersey Devil

The Jersey Devil is a legendary cryptid said to inhabit the Pine Barrens of southern New Jersey. From the legend, "Mother Leeds had 12 children and, after finding she was pregnant for the 13th time, stated that this one would be the Devil. In 1735, Mother Leeds was in labor on a stormy night while her friends gathered around her. Mother Leeds was supposedly a witch and the child's father was the Devil himself. Born as a normal child, it changed to a creature with hooves, a goat's head, bat wings, and a forked tail. Growling and screaming, it killed the midwife before flying up the chimney, circling the villages, and heading toward the pines.
